The Olivet varsity baseball team fell to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Greater Lansing Activities Conference after dropping both ends of a home doubleheader with Lansing Christian Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles lost the opener, 5-3, giving up a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings. Jake Koeske’s two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning cut the deficit to one run, but the locals failed to score the rest of the way.
Koeske was the lone Olivet player with two hits, going 2-for-4, while Brendan Whitely added a double and reached base three times.
In the nightcap, the Eagles came out on the short end of a 5-2 score, squandering a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Olivet managed only five hits, with Koeske and Whitely both stroking doubles.
Pitching-wise, sophomore Delbert Redfield did not give up an earned run in four innings of work in the opener, while freshman Chandler Adams hurled 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief in the second game.
