For a day that started off somewhat gloomy, everything turned out pretty well for the Olivet boys’ and girls’ track teams as they both placed first in Saturday’s annual Mendon Track & Field Invitational.
For the Lady Eagles, who have won the meet four consecutive years, there were several outstanding performances. Bailey Hoffman won the discus with a toss of 96’1”; Aleena Janousek won the high jump at 4’10”; Teona Feldpausch won the 800-meter run in 2:33.76; and the 3200 relay of Morgan Greenman, Alex Dartt, Feldpausch and Grace Mott crossed the line first in 10:43.9. Hoffman and Feldpausch both recorded personal-best efforts.
Placing second for the Olivet girls were Logan Kyre in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles; Dartt in the 1600 run; Greenman in the 400 dash and 800 run; and the 400 relay of Kyre, Madison Dexter, Loren Westlake and Noelle Rohde.
The Olivet boys received first-place finishes from David Hewer in the pole vault (12’6”); Wyatt Smith in the 100 dash (:11.59); Sliver Dotts in the 300 hurdles (:42.98), and the 800 relay of Joe MacInnes, Collin Hannahs, Mateo Palacios and Deion Feldpausch (8:37.89). The time posted by Dotts was a season-best.
Contributing runner-up finishes for the Eagle boys were Malachi Salyers in the discus, MacInnes in the 1600 run, and Feldpausch in the 400 dash and 800 run.
