Daniel Higgins is on his way to the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 Individual Bowling Finals after placing 10th out of 90 rollers in Saturday’s regional tournament at Eastland Bowl in Kalamazoo.
The Olivet High School junior knocked down 1,076 pins over six games this past weekend, good for a 179.3 average. His high game was 199, lower than most of his outings this season, but his consistency pulled him through.
The Division 3 state meet will be held on Saturday, March 5 at Airport Lanes in Jackson. Higgins will compete against 59 other bowlers. The preliminary round consists of six games, with the top 16 scorers advancing to match play later in the day.
The OHS bowling program is in only its second year, and Higgins is the first Eagle to qualify for the state tournament.
