For the next 10 days, Olivetathletics.com will count down the Top 10 Olivet High School sports stories for 2017-18. So, without further ado, here is No. 10…

Not many people on the high school bowling scene knew who Mckenna Sheler was when the 2017-18 season started.  By the time early March rolled around, however, all of that had changed.

The Olivet High School sophomore’s third-place finish at the regional tournament and subsequent appearance in the MHSAA Division 3 Individual State Bowling Finals in Muskegon on March 3 is the No. 10 OHS sports story of 2017-18.

At the regional, which was held in Battle Creek, Sheler averaged 177 over six games, with a high score of 209.  She wasn’t quite as sharp at the state meet, averaging 162 with a high score of 206, but still finished 33rd out of 60 bowlers.

Sheler also was a first-team All-Greater Lansing Activities Conference performer in 2017-18.
