Plans to create the Olivet High School Athletic Hall of Fame are underway, with the nomination process starting immediately and the first induction ceremony scheduled for September of 2019.
Community members are encouraged to nominate elite student-athletes, coaches, teams and contributors who have represented OHS with both excellence and strong character. The nomination deadline is March 28, 2019. Nomination forms can be found on the olivetathletics.com website.
Sometime in the early spring, a committee will be responsible for choosing from those teams and individuals who have been recommended through the nomination process. While the inaugural class is expected to be large, perhaps as many as 10 inductees, most years will feature 3-5 new members. The process will be repeated annually.
The following criteria has been established for OHS Athletic Hall of Fame members:
- ATHLETE: An athlete is eligible for nomination into the OHS Athletic Hall of Fame 10 years after graduating from OHS. Considerations include individual honors, team success and post-high school accomplishments.
- TEAM: A team is eligible for nomination into the OHS Athletic Hall of Fame 10 years after the accomplishment. Considerations include championships won and the level of success during the regular season and post season.
- COACH: A coach is eligible for nomination into the OHS Athletic Hall of Fame 3 years after retiring from coaching. Considerations include conference, district, regional and state championships, along with win-loss record.
- SPORTS CONTRIBUTOR: A sports contributor is eligible for nomination into the OHS Athletic Hall of Fame at any time. These are individuals who are not players or coaches but contribute heavily to the success of the OHS athletic program(s).
